The following minimum internet and equipment are required to participate in online hypnotherapy sessions:
High speed internet – preferably broadband
Access to a device that can use Zoom.
Please be aware that there is no need to download Zoom software or set up an account with zoom. However, if you do install Zoom software then please ensure that this is fully up to date to help ensure security of your connection / device.
A device connected to a secure password protected Wi-Fi network
If you are using a public or shared computer, be aware that personal information may be stored. The best way to avoid this is to only use devices that you own and have sole access to.
A camera on your device that allows me to get a clear view of your face and upper body.
Note: You may wish to use earphones or a headset with a microphone to ensure that you can speak and hear clearly without being overheard by others
I will ask that we set a time to test the connection and hardware before our first session to make sure this is working properly and so as not to lose time from our session.
I will send a zoom link for this test via secure email.
Note: Please ensure that we do this test in the same room / location that you will be in when our sessions are conducted, using the same device and Wi-Fi network.
To help ensure we have a successful online session, please adhere to the following guidance:
Make sure you are in a safe and confidential room / space where you can prevent people or pets from entering
If there are others in your household, ask that they not to interrupt you or make a lot of noise outside the room
Consider putting pets in another part of your home if they are likely to be distracting to you
If using a computer, to avoid monitors freezing or disconnecting – please check that your computer is not set up to go into sleep mode less than 2 or 3 hours of inactivity
If using a computer, please disconnect all other programs running during the session - unnecessary programs may weaken your internet connection
Turn off the ringer on your mobile phone during your session and keep this on vibrate if we have agreed to use this as our secondary form of contact should our connection be lost
In case of an emergency during a session, you will be asked to supply the telephone number of someone I can contact who can check on you as part of our therapy agreement. In order for them to do this, please make sure that they are near enough to your location to be able to come and check in with you, and that they will be available during each of our sessions
